Biography / History

Forming in late 2009, Alkira have begun to make a name for themselves as a young group of talented musicians with a brutal live show. Hailing from the small country town of Strathalbyn in the Adelaide Hills, this four-piece thrash metal band play regular gigs in the Adelaide CBD, as well as pubs and festivals in the Adelaide Hills and South Coast areas. Taking inspiration from all eras and incarnations of heavy metal, Alkira has developed a unique sound which can be appreciated by all music fans. Always keen to play gigs, no matter how big or small they may be, this young metal attack will always draw a crowd!

In early 2012 the band released their debut EP "Down From the Hills", launching the CD with a show at Enigma Bar on the 31st of March which featured some of Austrlia's finest metal acts, including Double Dragon (now Sons of Asena), A Murder of Crows, Arcadia and Beyond the Oblivion. With their first east coast tour booked for early June in support of the EP and some big name supports later in the year, 2012 is shaping up to be a big one for ALKIRA!
